Composer possibly slips news about Final Fantasy XII remake [UPDATE]

At the recent Distant Worlds concert in Pittsburgh, Arnie Roth, the lead conductor behind the Final Fantasy concert tour, might have let slip some news that was not meant to be shared. In a video posted by Final Fantasy Network who attended the concert, Roth touched base with fans about the upcoming Final Fantasy VII remake while also mentioning “and there’s a Final Fantasy XII remake underway too.” The news shocked the audience as well, as Square Enix have previously made no announcement of such a project.

If this is true then Roth definitely let the cat out of the bag much earlier than Square Enix intended. However even though he mentions a remake, it could possibly just be another HD remaster like FFX and FFX2, and FF Type-0 before it. Square has yet to make a comment but we’ll update you once an official response is made.

Update: Roth retracted his statement on Facebook:

Dear friends,

In response to comments posted by fans, I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY concert in Pittsburgh.

Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from FINAL FANTASY XII, regrettably, the term ‘remake’ was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert.

We sincerely regret any confusion this has caused.
