As of 2 days ago, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata died at the age of 55. A statement published yesterday by Nintendo reads:

“Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.”

Mr. Iwata began work at Nintendo in the 1980s developing for HAL Laboratory working on games like Earthbound, Kirby, and Balloon Fight. In 2002, he took over as President when his predecessor Hiroshi Yamauchi retired. Since then, he has overseen the success of the Wii, DS, 3DS and Amiibos along with the failure of the Wii U and GameCube. Today, Nintendo’s social network accounts will not post anything to honor his memory.

R.I.P. Mr. Iwata. Thank you for all that you have given us. You will be missed.

l love to play games and write stuff about them. I can't play something and not tell anyone how I feel about it. Call it a sickness, because it is.
