SDCC 2015: Joker to return in first four episodes of Gotham season two

One of the big elements that had many fans buzzing about the first season of Gotham was the mystery surrounding the character Jerome, played by Cameron Monaghan. The show has given a good amount of evidence that indicated to fans that Monaghan is playing a young version of Batman’s most infamous villain, the Joker.

Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller has publicly said in interview that the show does have big plans for “Jerome” in Season 2. Even Monaghan posted a picture of himself on instagram to tease his involvement next season.

During this past week’s Comic-Con, the cast of Gotham gathered in Hall H. While the cast were doing a Q&A with fans, one of the attendees was abruptly interrupted by Cameron in character asking a question about the cast before he was taken away by security.

In another interview with Ben McKenzie, Robin Lord Taylor and Bruno Heller, the cast revealed that fans would not have to wait long before the return of Jerome. Heller announced that this season the show would absolutely tell the story of how The Joker came to be.

Ben McKenzie: “We’ve now read the first four scripts and Jerome is definitely featured. I think with fans of Joker, I think you are going to be very happy.”

Bruno Heller: “It’s a storyline that plays out over the whole season. By the end of the season all Joker fans will be able to go ‘Aaaah, what a brilliant idea,” or I’ll be out of a job. (laughs)”

Gotham returns September 21st on FOX.
