Marvel has been announcing new comics series this week, and one of them is The Totally Awesome Hulk #1. What makes this one interesting is that the Hulk’s face is blacked out with a question mark in front of it. It was mentioned before that the new Hulk will be just as surprising as the announcement of the female Thor. If that’s the case, be prepared for the fans to be split on this one.

Writer Greg Pak (Planet Hulk) will be working on the new comic series with help from artist Frank Cho (Mighty Avengers, Savage Wolverine).

“For decades, Dr. Bruce Banner has buckled under the weight of his fearsome alter ego, the Incredible Hulk,” Says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. “Now, someone else is going to take away Banner’s burden, hoist it onto his frail shoulders like it weighs no more than a leaf, and embrace the pure fun being the most powerful being in the Marvel Universe. It’s the Hulk like you’ve never seen him before: unleashed, unapologetic and totally awesome.”

Fans will get to find out who the new Hulk is and also the whereabouts of Bruce Banner in the eight months he’s been gone. Will a happy Hulk spell disaster for the Marvel Universe?

“We ain’t kidding – this is an all-new Hulk,” says writer Greg Pak. “We’re breaking new ground here – no return to established personalities of the past. But what’s going on is indeed grounded in the history of the character and will delve into the central themes of the Hulk in exhilarating new ways.”

The Totally Awesome Hulk #1 is coming out in fall.
