Did Square Enix announce a new version of Chrono Trigger?

Square Enix posted a new video yesterday which revealed a few titles they will be showcasing at E3. These include Final Fantasy XIV : Heavenaward, Just Cause 3, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below, and the next chapter in Life is Strange. There are a few more games that are bleeped out.

There are some obvious guesses like Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV getting a release date, but there are a few sounds you hear at the 40-second mark that really catches your attention, if you are an old school JRPG fan, Remixed version of Frog’s Theme from Chrono Trigger! I was too focused on the video the first time watching it that I missed a few extra sounds that included Robo, Leene’s Bells and even the item select menu sounds which start at the 30-second mark. Frog’s theme was something that I could never forget, which brought a sudden rush of nostalgia for me, especially of Frog slicing the mountain in half.

Could we see a new remastered version of the classic rpg from 1995? We’ve seen the game get ported to the PS1, DS, iOS and Android. (The sequel Chrono Cross never got as much attention.) To me I would love to see a new and improved version for next generation, or even a sequel to the original where Crono and the team once again must gather across time to defeat another evil. The new track gave me hope, but I’m wishing it’s not some announcement that it’s heading to Steam or to the PS4 using the PSN version. Don’t do this to me, Square Enix!
