The Rock wants no trouble with Big Trouble in Little China remake

When it was announced last week that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson would be playing Jack Burton in the upcoming Big Trouble in Little China remake, fans were kind of split on the idea. Many were against it (a remake in general), some were just unsure if Johnson would fit that role, and few were all for it. Needless to say, there was more negativity than positiveness surrounding the announcement.

Don’t worry though, as those outraged cries did not fall on deaf ears. Johnson has listened and heard what everyone’s been saying and have addressed their fears. He had this to say in a recent interview with EW:

“I loved the original when I was younger and I loved the main character – all the characters. It felt like if we surrounded ourselves with the right group of people, the right writers who loved the movie too and wanted to honor it, bring on John Carpenter in some capacity … If we did that, then we have a shot at hopefully making something good.”

He goes on to say:

“Let’s see what feels good, what we can come up with and then go from there. And as we write it, if the whole thing starts to stink up, then we thank everybody for their efforts and accept this just couldn’t make it.”

Now if that doesn’t help satiate fans, I’m not sure what will. Not only is he wanting to bring Carpenter in, but is also willing to scrap the project if it’s not going to go well. I think that’s a winner in my book. Let’s see how far the rabbit hole goes, as my interest has been more than piqued.
