It’s hard to believe that this Friday will be Joss Whedon’s swan song for the MCU. With Spider-Man now a part of the MCU and the Russo Brothers set to direct the Avengers: Infinity War Par 1 and 2, Joss couldn’t help but feel disappointed that he never got to work with Spider-Man during his time with Marvel.

“Yeah [I’d like to have worked on Spider-Man], he’s the poster child. He’s the first book I read, and I think that’s true for a lot of people. There are so many things I would want to do, even with these characters [The Avengers], even with just one of these characters. But the fact of the matter is: they’re doing fine, and I’ve probably got to move on.”

It is still unclear what Joss’ future involvement with Marvel Cinematic Universe will be after everything is all said and done with the promotion of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Whedon has helped in the past on other Marvel movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: Winter Soldier,  but as we reported last week he maybe jumping ship over to DC.

“I honestly don’t know, discussions haven’t even gotten that far”

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens this Friday in theaters everywhere.
