Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice takes place after the events of Man of Steel. Many would think that this is a Superman sequel, however, Henry Cavill, who plays Superman, says that the film isn’t necessarily a Superman sequel.

“I wouldn’t call this a Superman sequel,” Cavill tells MTV. “This is Batman vs. Superman so it’s a separate entity altogether. It’s introducing the Batman character and expanding upon the universe which was kicked off by Man of Steel…. Everything could change in the editing room, but as it stands it’s definitely an introduction to the character and ultimately an introduction to Justice League.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016. Justice League Part 1 will hit theaters on November 17, 2017.
