J.J. Abrams delays Star Wars: Battlefront release
Disclaimer: This was an April Fool’s article.
J.J. Abrams has just made every Star Wars fan scream in agony. Fortunately, it’s not in regards to the closely guarded Episode VII, but it is in reference to another Star Wars franchise. Abrams recently had a meeting with DICE and EA about the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront game. You’re probably wondering why that is. Just over a month ago, many rumors surfaced about some of the content that was going to be included in the game. One of which being that there are maps, characters and plot lines from Episode VII appearing in Battlefront. It now seems that it was true.
Albeit being excited about that, J.J. Abrams has found a bit of displeasure in that. The only reason being that the game is releasing about 2 weeks prior to the film’s release. Up to now, much of Episode VII‘s plot has been kept under wraps. This is something Abrams was hoping to upkeep until the premiere of the film. With the game releasing before that, Abrams fears that players will get too much info from the game, and it will degrade the experience from viewing the movie.
EA’s COO Peter Moore agreed to Abrams’ claim and has thus moved the release date of Star Wars: Battlefront from early December 2015 to February 2016.
I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this. While I can agree that I want to go into the film with an open mind not knowing anything plot-wise, I don’t think Battlefront will offer enough to ruin the film. What do you guys think about this? Is J.J. Abrams being a bit paranoid?
