Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast comes out on March 2017 and will include classic songs

Disney's Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Disney has been cranking out live-action movies based on its animated films from the past. These include the newly released Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent. The next one we’ll be seeing are Jon Favreau’s Jungle Book and Bill Condon’s Beauty and the Beast. Now Disney has announced the release date for the latter film, which will be hitting theaters on March 17, 2017. Another cool tidbit is that the film will feature some of the classic songs from the animated musical.

Emma Watson (Harry Potter series) will be playing Belle, and Dan Stevens (Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb) will be playing the Beast/Prince. Joining as the villain is Luke Evans (The Hobbit Trilogy) as Gaston. Portraying Mrs. Potts will be Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks), with Kevin Kline (Wild Wild West) as Maurice, Belle’s father.

Alan Menken, who scored the animated Beauty and the Beast film, will once again be scoring for the live-action version. Some of the classic original songs will be back, but with new recordings and some new songs, which will be written by Menken and Sir Tim Rice. The script is being done by Stephen Chbosky. The film will begin production in May at Shepperton Studios in London.
