Warner Bros. CEO: DC films are edgier than Marvel films

marvel vs dc

As long as Marvel and DC exist, we’ll always have fans arguing with each other on both sides. With Marvel Studios doing the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it has inspired DC and many other Hollywood studios to copy its formula. Warner Bros. chairman-CEO Kevin Tsujihara has added fuel to the fire by saying that DC films are “edgier” than Marvel films.

“The worlds of DC are very different,” Tsujihara said today at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference (via Variety) “They’re steeped in realism, and they’re a little bit edgier than Marvel’s movies.”

Tsujihara thinks that because the two studios have different tones for their properties, it gives fans variety so that Marvel and DC characters can be enjoyed.

“The key thing,” he says, “Is that the movies and the television shows and the games, everything looks very different… you have to be able to take advantage of the diversity of these characters.”

He knows the value of Batman and Superman and comments on it.

“The big franchises are becoming more and more valuable,” Tsujihara continues. “You don’t have to explain to the consumer what a ‘Batman v Superman’ is.”

What do you think of Tsujihara’s thoughts on Marvel and DC?
