Ben Hardy to play Angel in X-Men: Apocalypse?

The list of actors joining Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse is growing and growing. Now we have reports via Variety that British actor Ben Hardy (EastEnders) will be appearing in the movie as a “significant” character based in the Marvel comic book universe. What’s the role he’ll be playing?

Hardy was initially in the running to play Cyclops, but that role went to Tye Sheridan. So far we have young X-Men characters set in the ’80s like Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcawler, Alexandra Shipp as Storm and Tye Sheridan as Cyclops. In the comics, the original members of X-Men were Jean Grey, Cyclops, Iceman, Beast and Angel. Since we’re still using Fox’s cinematic universe for X-Men, Ice Man will likely be out, since he was young in the previous X-Men movies. Hopefully that means Hardy will be playing Warren Worthington III, aka Angel.

It would make sense for us to get Angel in an X-men movie featuring supervillain Apocalypse. Angel was a vital character, since Apocalypse turned him into his personal guard, Archangel, to represent the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Returning characters include James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, and Evan Peters as Quicksilver. Simon Kinberg is writing the screenplay from a previous treatment from Mike Dougherty, Dan Harris and Kinberg.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016.

Who do you think Ben Hardy will be playing? Sound off below!
