SNL mocks North Korea and Sony in cold open with Dr. Evil

Oh, Saturday Night Live! You are hilarious. This past weekend, SNL aired a special cold opening in regards to the recent Sony hacking scandal. It begins with “Sam Smith’s” Christmas Special, played by the talented Taran Killan, but is interrupted by Mike Meyer’s Dr. Evil (if you kids remember, Dr. Evil is the villain in 1997’s Austin Powers). Dr. Evil mocks the North Korean/Sony hacking scandal and it’s hilarious. He makes fun of Sony’s movie decision, North Korea, the Guardians of Peace (GOP), and Meyer’s movie flopĀ The Love Guru.

It’s great that Mike Meyers reprised his iconic role because no one else could ever give it justice. But I’m guessing a lot of the younger generation may not recognize Dr. Evil. The last time we saw him was over 12 years ago in Austin Powers in Goldmember. Maybe he’s making a comeback?
