Tomorrow (December 12) will see the release of episode 8 of Constantine, “The Saint of Last Resorts” part 1. The episode takes John and Chas to Mexico to help an old friend solve a demonic child abduction. Meanwhile, Zed is on “R & R” due to her encounter with the angel in last week’s episode, “Blessed are the Damned,” finds herself pursued by the model she met in art class. This young man clearly has darker designs.

“The Saint of Last Resorts” Part 1 (Part 2 airs in January when the show returns) weaves a tale that is not only a fun supernatural mystery, but also sheds more light on John’s past and character, and why he’s a dangerous man to know. John’s cast of friends and acquaintances get expanded once more as we meet Sister Anne Marie, the young woman who brought Constantine into the occult, but turned to service of the church after the events of Newcastle. We also get a look at the other corridors of the Constantine “House of Mystery” and find that it is just as dreamlike and labyrinthine as promised. This episode, along with “A Feast of Friends” and “The Devil’s Vinyl” is one of the most Hellblazeresque episodes yet.

If you’ve been following Constantine, hoping for more of a return to his Vertigo roots, you won’t want to miss tomorrow’s episode. You can also check out my review for “The Saint of Last Resorts” part 1 tomorrow as well.
