2K banning players for creating Chris Benoit in WWE 2K15
The tragic death of Chris Benoit and his family is certainly a touchy subject with most wrestling fans. The WWE has taken every measure possible to ignore Chris Benoit’s time spent in the company. Many of Chris’s matches have never been re-aired and many of the pay-per-views he appeared in have been edited.
Recently fan have been reportedly banned from WWE 2K15 for creating costume characters of the deceased wrestler. We recently caught an exchange from a banned fan and 2K’s community manager:
Gooooood morning, WWE Games Universe!!!

@WWEgames well it would be if I hadn’t been banned for 2 weeks for no reason — Cory Bundick (@corybundick) December 4, 2014
@corybundick I just checked your account. You were banned because you uploaded a Chris Benoit face to community creations.

@stephensonmc That’s cool, where is that in the rules and policies? Because I saw plenty on community creations — Cory Bundick (@corybundick) December 4, 2014
@corybundick We’ve been deleting those and ones that are will be deleted. Let’s worry about your right now.

@corybundick We’re a WWE product. How do you think that’s OK? I’m asking and I didn’t even ban you. — Marcus Stephenson (@stephensonmc) December 4, 2014

@stephensonmc hey I’m just trying to get this resolved, but obvious why it’s a violation is a bit of a stretch. It wasn’t obvious to me. — Cory Bundick (@corybundick) December 5, 2014

In a game that allows you the freedom to create any character you want, it seems a little silly to punish gamers for wanting to play as one of their favorite performers.
We want to hear what you guys think? Do you think 2K is in the right for banning players for creating Chris Benoit because of his heinous crime or do you think fans should have the freedom to create any character they like? Let us know in the comments below.
