Batman triumphs over Spider-Man in August 2014 comic book sales

It’s time to find out which comic book publisher and which comic book title are reigning supreme over the others. According to Diamond, Batman #34 is the top-selling comic book of August 2014. The issue has Batman hunting a killer in the shadows of Gotham City from writer Scott Snyder and artist Matteo Scalera. The fanbase for Batman is still high, and we can see the popularity of the character with the many movies and shows under its utility belt.

Amazing Spider-Man #5

Second place goes to Amazing Spider-Man #5. This issue features a mysterious woman named SILK, who has a connection with Black Cat and Electro.

Original Sin #7

Coming in third place is Marvel’s Original Sin #7.

Of the top ten best-selling comic books, Marvel has 5 titles placed there. DC has 4 and Image Comics has one (The Walking Dead #130 in sixth place).


The number one publisher for the month of August is Marvel Comics, with 34.27%  of the dollar market share and 35.85% of the unit market share. DC is the second top publisher with 28.71% dollar share and 32.56% unit share. Image comes in third place with 8.83% dollar share and 10.97% unit share. IDW Publishing is at fourth place at 5.43% and Dark Horse comes in fifth with 4.73%.

Thanos the Infinity Revelation

The best-selling graphic novel for August belongs to Thanos: The Infinity Revelation OGN Hardcover by writer Jim Starlin and artists Andy Smith and Frank D’Armata. This book is definitely not for beginners, but if you think you can take the plunge into the mind of Thanos, then be my guest.

Fables Volume 20

The second best-selling graphic novel is Fables Volume 20: Camelot TP. Written by Bill Willingham and illustrated by Mark Buckingham, we see Rose Red becoming the Paladin of Hope in order to gather the Fables together to fix Fabletown.
