Bring It On’s Peyton Reed will direct Ant-Man movie!

10425624_10152183593020897_768558186_nPeyton Reed, who is best known for directing films like Bring It On, Yes Man, The Break-Up and The Weird Al Show, will be taking up former director Edgar Wright’s role in directing Ant-Man. With the sad news of Edgar Wright’s leaving the film, he has talked about directing for nearly a decade. People were both sad and scared, wondering who would take up the helm of this film, even James Gunn and nerd god Joss Whedon were sad.

With rumors circulating the internet, the focus eventually shifted over to announcements regarding the Dr. Strange movie, with director Scott Derrickson being chosen. I can guarantee this was a smart ploy by Marvel to shift focus on the potential disaster that would be Ant-Man. It has given Marvel some room to breathe, allowing them to pick the right person to direct Ant-Man.

Fans of Ant-Man are no doubt worried about this film. First people don’t really know who Ant-Man is, and those that are familiar with the character are much more familiar with Dr. Henry Pym compared to the lesser-known Ant-Man, Scott Lang. Luckily they brought in wonderful talent to be in front of the camera including Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and Evangeline Lilly.

The only thing to remind fans of hope for Ant-Man is that Marvel can do wonders. For example, they had faith in TV comedy directors, the Russo Brothers (Anthony and Joe Russo), to helm the extremely well-adapted and well-received Captain America: The Winter SoldierAll we can do now is wait and see, and remember that “In Marvel, We Trust.”

Adam McKay (Anchorman), who was originally asked to replace Edgar Wright has been hired to do rewrites on the script originally written by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).

Marvel also released a synopsis of the film: “Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”
