Twilight director to helm live-action Beauty and the Beast

It has been revealed that Twilight director Bill Condon has been brought on board to helm the live-action Beauty and the Beast film for Disney. For those who aren’t fans of the Twilight and are fans of Beauty and the Beast, they may have something to worry about. For those who love both, then this news should definitely be enticing.

Ever since the live-action Oz The Great and Powerful and Alice in Wonderland movies, Disney has been hungry for turning classic tales into live-action adaptations. Disney has already started adapting their own animated films into live-action films like, which also includes the recent Maleficent, and the upcoming Cinderella and Jungle Book films. The two latter should be interesting since Cinderella is being helmed by Kenneth Branagh (Thor) and Jungle Book by Jon Favreau (Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2). It looks like Disney is plucking some of the directors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to take care of their Disney live-action projects.

As for Bill Condon doing Beauty and the Beast, what do you guys think of this news? Are you guys excited, or are you fearing that this may be the next Twilight where fans are either team Beast or team Gaston?
