Easter Eggs in X-Men: Days of Future Past you might have missed

Like most movies that is adapted from original source material, they usually try to give a nod or homage to it in one way or another. X-Men: Days of Future Past is the same; it gave a nod to its comic counterpart as well as putting in small gems for the hardcore fans to find. So let’s share some of those with you now. If you have not seen the movie stop right now, turn off your computer, go to a theater and watch the movie because there are SPOILERS AHEAD. Once you’re done then come back and read this article.

The Time Traveler
In the movie, Wolverine’s the one who goes back in time to stop the future from happening. But as many fans of the comic books know, it was Kitty Pryde who went back in time to do the job and as a nod to the comic book source they gave Kitty the power to send back someone’s mind into the past.

The House of M
When Wolverine and Xavier helped Magneto escape from prison, Magneto told Peter Maximoff a.k.a. Quicksilver that he can control metal. Quicksilver quickly replied that his mom knew someone who could do that. We also see a mailbox with the Maximoff name and that gives credence to one of Magneto’s many aliases. As for the little girl that we saw; she is not Wanda Maximoff as explained here.

Adamantium bones
In one of the scenes you see Magneto impale Wolverine with steel rods. This is a reference to a bit in Fatal Attractions arc when Magneto removes all of the adamantium out of Wolverine’s body. As you can see from the picture below, it was not a pretty sight.

The ship righted and love blooms
By the end of the movie there were major fixes to the timeline. We saw Jean Grey and Cyclops alive and back at the Academy, Rogue and Iceman reunited, and another pair referenced to: Kitty and Colossus. The Kitty and Colossus relationship were never really mentioned in the movie, although they were actually couples in the comic books. They had a long lasting and loving relationship.

Apocalypse introduced
After the end credits rolled we were treated as usual to a teaser of the next upcoming Marvel movie. Fans know what the title of the next X-Men movie is but some do not know who the villain is, except for those that know the comic books. After the credits, we see a young mutant seemingly constructing the Pyramids and the people below calling out the name, “En Sabah Nur.” From there, as many comic fans know, the next villain will be Apocalypse. You can read more of an explanation of the end credit scene here.

Now I know these are not the only Easter Eggs in the movie. If you know of some that we missed let us know in the comments section below and we’ll add it after doing some research.

With that being said, what do you think of the Easter Eggs placed in the movies?

X-Men: Days of Future Past is now playing in theaters.
