Adventure Time: The Suitor DVD review

By David Ng

WHAT TIME IS IT?!?! Adventure Time! on DVD that is. This week Adventure Time: The Suitor hits store shelves and this sixth volume brings fans 16 full length episodes from the mathematical TV show. I was so excited to get the opportunity to do the review for Nerd Reactor, I mean “Oh my glob, this is one of my favorite shows.” Let’s throw on our awesome hats and get to this!

The box has some beautiful artwork featuring Peppermint Butler and the Candy Kingdom. Not too much to say here except that The Suitor seems to have the most interesting box art yet in the Adventure Time series.

The list of episodes does not have any real order and comes mostly from seasons 4 and 5 with a little of seasons 1 mixed in. It has a great blend of episodes which focus on the five biggest characters of the franchise: Finn the Human, Jake the Dog, BMO, Princess Bubblegum, and Marceline the Vampire Queen. With 16 episodes adding up to three hours of entertainment, you are guaranteed to find a favorite. For me it was Hug Wolf, who doesn’t love hugs?

Special Features

The most disappointing part of this DVD is that the only special features included were five quick character bios. It would have been nice if they had thrown in an interview or just introductions from some of the voice actors. I understand that their target age group is a bit younger than myself but some behind the scenes stuff is always appreciated.

Final Reaction

What better way to get yourself all pumped about the start of season 6 than to watch nearly three hours of Adventure Time? And season 6 is shaping up to be one of the best, I mean Finn’s dad? What the WHAT? Adventure Time: The Suitor was a lot of fun and I can see myself enjoying the DVD many times in the future. Without any special features really to grab fans though I would almost recommend that you wait and pick up the full season releases. Still though it was worth it to this fan who tunes in every Monday.
