News surfaced today that Facebook mogul, Mark Zuckerberg, tried out Sony’s new upcoming VR system literally only a week before purchasing Oculus VR. GameSpot’s interview with PlayStation marketing executive Guy Longworth revealed that the Facebook CEO asked for a tech demo of VR headset at the Games Marketing Summit 2014. Longworth didn’t understand why Zuckerberg wanted to test out the headset at the time. Of course, his intent became clear when he purchase the Oculus Rift. Very, very sneaky.
One thing I clearly remember hearing last year was that the guys from Oculus met up with Sony during E3. Naturally, rumors began to spread about possible Oculus Rift support for the PS4. You can imagine my shock when Sony announced their own VR System. Did they already have their VR system in the works, or did they just steal their idea and were able to quickly develop it because they’re a big company? We will probably never know.
One thing is for sure, it’s going to make this year’s E3 a hell of a lot more interesting when these two VR Headsets battle it out. There’s also a rumor going around that Microsoft is working on a VR system of their own. So stay tuned.
