For the fifth year in a row NBC’s Community returns to the Paley Festival to bring the laughs and backstage stories. It included joking on the cancellation, guest stars, and a season six?

Hosted by TV Guide’s Michael Schneider, the panel included Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna with Community cast members Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown and Jim Rash. The first part of the panel had the first part of the finale taking place after the successful Save Greendale movement.

An important part of the panel was spent talking about Community creator Dan Harmon. Originally it was not known whether Dan would return for season five, as both were not part of season 4. No one knew of Dan’s status because of his involvement with his Cartoon Network hit series, Rick and Morty, but the cast, especially Joel Mchale, felt the show isn’t the same without him. There was a point when Dan and Chris McKenna had a bit of miscommunication, causing them not to talk and were unaware of what was going on with each other. Joel talked about filming the fourth season and said, “It felt like that episode of ‘Twilight Zone’ where the guy realized he was in a zoo on another planet… It just was not the show. I mean, [Harmon’s] brain is where it all exists and I didn’t think it was worth continuing if he wasn’t back.” Joel eventually played mediator and finally got the ball rolling for season five.

The crowd cheered as it was hinted that a sixth season would be happening. A question that has been asked for a long time was whether they ever planned on doing a Community movie. They said they would love to do it.

It was a great night for Community fans. The actors made the night enjoyable, hilarious and awkward all at the same time.
