Lady Sif set to appear in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Things are finally starting to look up for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Those who have given up on the show should start to watch the show again as the past few episodes have gotten better and better (seriously). Earlier this week, it was announced that Bill Paxton would be appearing on the show in a four-episode arc, and today Marvel has announced that Lady Sif (the beautiful Jaimie Alexander) would be appearing in an upcoming episode.

The show runners for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have been making every effort to appease all the fan criticism it’s been getting and to get viewers interested in the show again. Executive producer Jeffrey Bell and the head of Marvel’s TV division Jeph Loeb, told viewers to be patient and that they have a plan in place that would make the show “feel more Marvel.”

Marvel originally missed an opportunity with the Thor tie-in episode by not featuring any character from the film. This time around, it looks as if they’ve learned their lesson and have an actual character from the film is showing up. According to Marvel’s announcement, Lady Sif is on a “very specific mission” that brings her to Midgard.

Although the details of her mission are scarce, it also brings up many questions about her appearance. Is Lady Sif coming to Midgard to visit Thor? The idea is a nice one but I can’t see Chris Hemsworth making an appearance on the show. If that’s the case, then why would Sif come to Earth and not see Thor? What mission is Sif on and does it have any implications in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Will this be another throwaway episode used to help promote the release of Thor: The Dark World on Blu-ray?

What are your thoughts and theories on this cameo?

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC, and Thor: The Dark World is out on Blu-ray on February 25.
