Vita TV coming to the West…soon

ps_vita_tvIn an interview with Eurogamer, Sony Computer Entertainment’s Andrew House talked about the differences of launching in Japan and in the West. One such case is the PS Vita TV which launched in Japan in November.

“Our goal is to be able to have a new form of game distribution streamed from the server side, initially to PS4 consoles then gradually moving that out to Vita,” House said, “but eventually, the end game is to have this available on a multitude of network connected devices, essentially delivering a console quality gaming experience on devices which are not innately capable of doing that.”

In Japan the Vita TV hasn’t taken off due to lack of touchscreen capabilities, causing a few games to not be compatible, and certain streaming services aren’t as popular as they are in the West like Hulu Plus, Netflix, Crunchyroll and Amazon Instant Video. Add the ability to play some Vita games, PSP, PS1, and other PSN games all from the comfort of your room and with the help of a DualShock 3 controller, Sony may have something perfect for us.

No other information has been released but for the price of $99, it is a cheaper alternative for streaming and gaming.
