Vikings Season 2 premieres in February 2014

vikings season 2 - 02

Get ready for another season of plundering when Vikings returns in 2014 on the History Channel. The series, normally airing on Sundays, will now air Thursdays, starting February 27 at 10/9c. The second season will contain 10 episodes.

The first scripted drama for the network (and also the top-rated new cable drama of 2013), Vikings follows viking leader Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) as he and his crew set sail to discover new lands. It looks like their adventures will be on hiatus, since his brother, Rollo (Clive Standen), has amassed his own followers to go up against his brother. Lothbrok will be aided by King Horrik (Donal Logue) while Rollo is likely going to side with the Earl of Gotaland.

To make things worse, Lothbrok will also have to deal with his family drama, since there’s another baby…and it’s not from his wife, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick).

Returning cast members include George Blagden (Athelstan), Jessalyn Gilsig (Siggy), Gustaf Skarsgard (Floki) and Alyssa Sutherland (Princess Aslaug, the other woman who gives birth to Ragnar’s baby). Joining the cast is Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games) as Bjorn, the son of Ragnar and Lagertha. With Ludwig playing an older version of the son, it means that some years have passed since Season 1. Also new is Linus Roache (Law & Order) as the King of Wessex.

After watching that teaser, it looks like fan-favorite Floki might meet his end. Let’s hope that’s not the case.
