Marvel looks to Elizabeth Olsen to play Scarlet Witch after Saoirse Ronan passes

Looks like Marvel is trying to possibly reunite Godzilla actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson with his co-star Elizabeth Olsen for The Avengers: Age of Ultron. This time they’re being paired together as the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Originally actress Saoirse Ronan was Marvel’s top choice to play Wanda, but has since passed on the role. Now, according to Bleeding Cool, Whedon and Marvel have moved their attention onto Oldboy actress Elizabeth Olsen.

Olsen is starting to become a rising star in Hollywood, with roles in such upcoming films as Oldboy and next year’s Godzilla reboot. After seeing her in Martha Marcy May Marlene I think she would be a fantastic choice for the role of the often mentally unstable Wanda Maximoff. The site adds that she will need to adopt a “European” accent is she accepts the role.

We’ll see where this goes as both Johnson and Olsen have yet to sign onto the roles. Production for The Avengers: Age of Ultron starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johannson, Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson, begins in early 2014.
