Joss Whedon announced at Comic-Con that the villain for the next Avengers movie would be Ultron. Not many people knew who or what Ultron is. Ultron is a robot created by Dr. Henry Pym aka Ant-Man while he was in The Avengers. Basically, Ultron rebelled and became a villain. Whedon has dispelled the rumor that Ant-Man would appear in The Avengers 2 movie and would change the Ultron creation storyline.

Since Ant-Man will not be part of The Avengers movie and will have his own movie, the Huffington Post asked director Edgar Wright if we would be seeing Ultron in his film.

Wright responded:

It was never in my script. Because even just to sort of set up what Ant-Man does is enough for one movie. It’s why I think “Iron Man” is extremely successful because it keeps it really simple. You have one sort of — the villain comes from the hero’s technology. It’s simple. So I think why that film really works and why, sometimes, superhero films fail — or they have mixed results — because they have to set up a hero and a villain at the same time. And that’s really tough. And sometimes it’s unbalanced.

No casting has been announced. Wright is currently busy touring for his latest movie release The World’s End.

Ant-Man is slated to release on November 5th, 2015.
