Jim Carrey has announced that he no longer supports a movie that he co-stars in, Kick-Ass 2¸ due to the violence in the film and his feelings about the Sandy Hook Massacre. First of all I would like to state that I understand everyone in the U.S. was left emotionally scrambled after the tragic events of Sandy Hook Elementary including myself. But what in the fuck does Sandy Hook have to do with Kick-Ass 2?

I was born in 1985. This means that my childhood was filled with rising popularity of Jim Carrey including films like Ace Ventura and one of my favorites, Liar Liar. Dumb and Dumber was one of the most highly quoted movies of all time and was followed by a prequel and soon-to-be sequel. Why does this matter? Ace Ventura banked off the comedy of a transsexual whore, Liar Liar exposed the stupidity of the legal system, and Dumb and Dumber capitalized on the stupidity of what are definite special needs men (which is then revealed in the prequel that they were in fact special needs children).

So back to Kick-Ass 2, Jim Carrey obviously read the second book of the film in preparation, which to anyone is a fun and violent series of comics. The thing is, there is absolutely no relationship to Sandy Hook at all except for the overall concept of violence. This movie is about people with no powers who become heroes and fight crime. Sure there is a teenage hero (Hit Girl) who kills bad guys, but she is the proof that girl heroes can be more ‘Kick-Ass’ than guy heroes, making her even more awesome! American people standing up to crime and villains who threaten their land, that’s the most American thing in the world!

But there is absolutely no connection with Sandy Hook. Oh okay, violence is the connection, well Mr. Carry according to your IMDB, the next 2 movies you are making are about ‘A night guard at an armored car company in the Southern U.S. organizes one of the biggest bank heists in American history.’ and ‘When three teens pull a prank and burn down a house in their neighborhood, they create a fake person to take the blame — Ricky Stanicky did it! Twenty years later we see that they have been using this alibi to get out of every uncomfortable situation in life. When their wives force them to set up a meeting with Stanicky, they hire an actor.’

So a movie about a bank robbery and a movie about not taking personal responsibility, lying, and blaming others are alright to film, even though they are much more realistic than a movie like Kick-Ass 2? I guess this now goes hand in hand with your politically-driven activism, which has been featured in the media including the tasteless video over the gun control debate mocking gun owners and Charlton Heston, who died years ago and was one of the first, if not the first, civil rights activist. Well if he can’t support his own movies because of Sandy hook violence, and Kick-Ass 2 violence is similar to the Sandy Hook violence, then he can’t support Kick-Ass 2 because of Sandy Hook violence. I guess then if Jim Carrey doesn’t like Charleton Heston, and Charleton Heston Supported the Civil Rights movement, then Jim Carrey doesn’t support the Civil rights movement. Ahh, deductive reasoning/transitive properties at its finest.

Look, Jim Carrey, I loved your movies, I loved your characters, but ever since you became a political activist you have really gone off the deep end. You know what aggravates me the most? In a time where being a teenager and depression go hand in hand, which sometimes leads to teenage suicide as we know, you go and act in Burt Wonderstone where you self-mutilate yourself so many times! What are you teaching the youth of America if not giving them ideas?! And what are you going to do with the money you made from Kick-Ass 2, since you basically related it to blood money? Why not donate all that money to the victims of Sandy Hook and clear your conscious of the film that you voluntarily made? I bet if Stallone offered you 5 million to be in Expendables 3, you would take it in a heartbeat!  But if you really don’t like guns and violence, which is the staple of the Hollywood movie industry, why in the hell are you living in America? Go back to Canada and take over Aubrey Graham’s, aka Drake’s spot in Degrassi Junior High. And be a doll and take Drake back with you please. In the words of Woody Harrelson, “Nut up or shut up” or go back to being just funny. ‘Merica!
