Nintendo Download – Project X Zone demo brings Capcom, Namco Bandai, Sega together

Sure there are two good Zelda games on the 3DS eShop this week, but there’s something perhaps a bit more important than those: a game made by Monolith Soft that contains Sega, Namco Bandai, and Capcom characters.

These kind of mashups are relatively common in Japan, but they don’t often reach our shores. Seeing as how the 3DS is not region free, the fact that this game is coming over here is more important to fans than ever before.

Project X Zone is the name of the game. It’s a turn-based strategy game that features more than 50 characters from the three previously stated companies. If you want to see Mega Man, Chris, Sakura, and characters from Valkyria Chronicles, Tales of Vesperia, Devil May Cry, .hack, God Eater, Street Fighter and more beat the living pixels off of one another–with glorious production values, mind you–this just might be the game for you. The demo, unfortunately, won’t be available until June 4th, but my 3DS and I will be ready and waiting. The actual game will be available at retail for $39.99 on June 25th–again, waiting.

In other non-Project X Zone news, the two Zelda games from Gameboy Color (Oracles of Ages, Oracle of Seasons) are now available on the 3DS eShop for $4.99 for a limited time (until June 20th). They’re worth a go if you’re the type who’s anticipating A Link to the Past 2. Just in case you’re curious, yes, these two games are able to be linked together just as they could on the Gameboy Color.

Take a gander at the rest of the lot, if you will:
