Meet the (hilarious) cast of Divekick

Parody fighting game Divekick has met a lot of success inside the fighting game scene as a hilarious inside joke, as well as a clever nod to one of the fighting game genre’s most annoying moves. The coming release for the PS3 and PS Vita has been working to expand on the game itself, both in terms of gameplay, as well as the cast of characters one can play as.

The backstories for the current roster is every bit as ridiculous and filled with fighting game and pop culture references as the game itself.¬†Besides Dive and Kick, who moved to a town call Bel Air after getting into a fight, players can also play as their master Uncle Sensei, as well as Alex Jefailey, a friendly jab at fighting game event organizer Alex Jebailey (which he’s totally okay with by the way). There is also Kung Pao, who hates colored ninjas, as well as a giant, bipedal, pregnant Skunk Bear that has developed an affinity for smoking cigars. Obviously the only thing really serious about the whole thing is the intensity that can be experienced during matches, and that’s perfectly fine.

You can check out the rest of the character bios over on the Playstation Blog and see what other references you can point out. Divekick currently does not have a release date.
