It has been reported before that Guardians of the Galaxy wan’t going to have Rocket Raccoon use motion capture, but I guess that news has now been debunked. The Realm Cast has reported that Andy Serkis, who’s known to many around the world as Gollum, is now attached to play as Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Looks like once he’s he gets a break from The Hobbit trilogy working as the second unit director, he’ll be busy going on a space adventure.

Andy Serkis has played many different types of creatures including King Kong and Caesar from Rise of the Planet of the Apes, so motion capture work won’t be new to him.

Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released in theaters on August 1, 2014.
