Vin Diesel reveals Riddick teaser trailer

It’s been 8yrs since anyone has last seen anything about Riddick. From how successful Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick was, you would think we might have had a third film by now. Since 2006, there were rumors of another film, but nothing had come to fruition as of yet and by the end of 2009 there was finally a complete script.

In early 2010, filming and pre-production had started and it looked like we would actually get a third film. Unfortunately, there were other setbacks, a major one being budget issues and the completion of the film lay in question. Luckily the movie gods shone down and was able to bring the project back on it’s feet. Vin Diesel has definitely considered this franchise close to him and it would only be fitting that he reveal the teaser.

Which he did, via Facebook. Check it out below.

I’m definitely excited for this movie, as it looks very reminiscent of Pitch Black as opposed to Chronicles of Riddick. The story itself also picks up after the 2nd film as well, so it’s not a prequel or anything. Are you excited for the next chapter in Riddick’s story? What would you like to see in the next film?

Here’s the official synopsis:

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Riddick hits theaters on September 6, 2013. Coincidentally, Fast Six releases a few weeks prior.
