Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard review

B009C98NPY_G710_BTY2_lgI recently just acquired a new Gaming PC thanks to Digital Storm. While I have never been much of a PC gamer, I’ve been seeing some great MMO and F2P games I wanted to play more recently. With these games, I also need a good performance keyboard and mouse. I am no stranger to them, but I just never needed the high performance until now.

Logitech has always been a very competitive name when it comes to performance products. The G710+ is Logitech’s first mechanical keyboard, and it’s also my first one too. I’ve used many of their other products from headset to mice, and many have made me a happy customer. The G710+ caught my eye when I attended CES, with its comfort and design (it includes the media buttons, macro buttons and the back lighting).

After a few weeks with the Cherry MX Brown switches, the keys really makes a difference. It adds an additional sound dampening ring to each key mechanism to reduce noise made by pushing the keys. The only fault I found in the keyboard was the detachable wrist rest which is connected with hinge-like plastic clips (it can be put on and off with minor difficulty). Moving the keyboard around does usually cause a hinge to unhook, causing you to reattach it, so avoid moving it around too much.

The G710+ really shines and stands out thanks to the anti-ghosting key. I found myself having it on all the time. The anti-ghosting gaming button disables the Windows key and a few other command keys, so I can play without accidentally hitting any button (this can screw up your game). Whether this is your first or hundredth, it’s great.

Features:

  • Tactile, high-speed keys: Quiet mechanical keys deliver gaming-grade responsiveness and superior tactile feedback without noise distractions
  • Adjustable dual-zone backlighting: Adjust the brightness of WASD/arrow keys independently from the rest of the keyboard so you can easily find any key?even in low light
  • 6 programmable G-keys: Configure up to 18 unique functions per game, including single keypresses, complex macros or intricate LUA scripts
  • High-performance gaming keys: 110 anti-ghosting keys and 26-key rollover help you make the right moves with flawless precision; one-touch media keys let you instantly control volume, mute and media playback
  • Compatibility: Works with Windows 8, Windows 7 or Windows Vista operating systems

Price: $149.99

Final Verdict

The Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is the perfect keyboard for gaming and every day use. It’s very quick, responsive and silent compared to other keyboards. The setup and design is perfect where I can write articles and edit photos for hours without any problems. The one touch media keys and volume control on the keyboard make everything from watching a movie or Youtube video as simple as a push of a button. It could use an extra USB pass or two to make some things easier, but overall the G710+ is great for gaming and every day use.

I am now a mechanical keyboard fan. It is a bit on the expensive side, but the abilities and durability easily make it worth the price.
