Is Kirkman the reason why showrunner Mazzara left Walking Dead?

the walking dead FINAL KEY ART

The Walking Dead show is known for having its showrunners leave. Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption) left after the first season, and Glen Mazzara left after the mid-season of Season 3. Through official statements, you’d think that they left in a civil manner, but we all know there has to be more dirt underneath. After Mazzara left, Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield) showed their disapproval of AMC’s decision. Sutter even called AMC “cunts”.

With a popular show like The Walking Dead, you’d think that AMC would want to keep the people that helped make the show a success. It seems that the man responsible for them leaving, at least for Glen Mazzara, is none other than Robert Kirkman. From Sutter’s Tweet, we can decipher that AMC has been kissing Robert Kirkman’s ass.

It would seem that AMC would do anything to keep Robert Kirkman on board, since he is the creator of the Walking Dead. Kirkman’s involvement gives him a lot of creative control over where the direction of the series would go, and that probably clashed with Glen Mazzara’s vision. Robert Kirkman responds back on his Twitter.

It’s like watching high school drama.
