VP Biden to meet with movie & gaming representatives on gun control

Joe BidenVice President Joe Biden, on a mission from President Barack Obama to find ways to help improve gun control, is making plans to meet with several different groups on how to approach the subject. One of the groups he has in mind includes people from the movie and video game industries.

The intention with this meeting is to understand just how much of an effect violent movies and games have on shootings, as well as how accessible mental health services are. The National Rifle Association is also being included in the talks, the group which executive vice president Wayne LaPierre made the uneducated claim last month that the gaming industry is a “callous, corrupt and corrupting shadow industry that sells, and sows, violence against its own people,” following the Sandy Hook shooting. The general idea, at least one can hope, is to get input from as many areas as possible in order find some common ground in which to bring in new ideas for gun control, which President Obama will then present at his State of the Union address later this month.

The meeting is slated to take place this week, and will also include victims of gun violence, gun safety groups, hunting groups, and gun owners. All ideas are being brought to the table, except the NRA’s ridiculous proposal to have armed guards at school’s, an idea which Obama thankfully quickly disregarded.
