Same-sex romance update coming Star Wars: The Old Republic
Star Wars: The Old Republic producer Jeff Hackman announced this week that the game would be updated to include same-sex romances. For many BioWare fans this is nothing new. Same-sex relationships have become very common in various other BioWare titles like Mass Effect and Dragon Age.
Same-sex relationships were originally suppose to already be implemented into the game. In the interview, Jeff revealed in the interview that this was delayed when they had to focus on making the game free-to-play.
“I realize that we promised [same-sex relationships] to you guys and that many of you believed that this would be with a companion character. Unfortunately, this will take a lot more work than we realized at the time and it (like some other pieces of content we talked about earlier in the year) has been delayed as we focused on the changes required to take the game free-to-play. As we have said in the past, allowing same-gender romance is something we are very supportive of.”
The update is scheduled to be roped in with the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion pack. Players will be able to flirt with members of the same-sex, but deep relationships won’t get implemented until a later update. If you pre-order the DLC before January 7th you will get early access to the expansion before everybody else.
Stay tuned for the official release date.
