SHIELD TV series heads to ABC Fall of 2013, Samuel L. Jackson wanting in, and more casting news

Jeph Loeb, famed comic book writer and executive producer for the SHIELD TV show, has revealed to PREVIEWSworld when the show will debut and where. It looks like we’re going to see Agent Coulson and friends in the Fall of 2013 on ABC.

“Well…we have a ‘little’ pilot for television that you might have heard about called Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. co-written, directed, and Executive Produced by none other than Joss Whedon! Working with Joss, Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell on the show is a blast! And bringing in Clark Gregg to play Agent Phil Coulson — the best! Hopefully we will be on in the Fall of 2013 on ABC!”

In other parts of the world, well, just Samuel L. Jackson’s world, he told MTV that he wants to be Nick Fury again for the show.

“I don’t know. I keep hearing about it, and I haven’t talked to Joss about it. But in my mind, I would tend to think that he would, if nothing else, be like Charlie in ‘Charlie’s Angels.’ At least be the voice!”

Yeah, he is the mastermind behind Shield, so it’d be odd to see the show without him around. Maybe his character is too busy trying to convince Iron Man to join the Avengers Initiative.

Now we have the last casting addition to the show, Chloe Bennet (Nashville). She’ll be joining Ming-na Wen (Agent Althea), Brett Dalton (Agent Grand Ward), Elizabeth Henstridge (Agent Jemma Simmons), Ian De Caestecker (Agent Leo Fitz)

Joss Whedon will be writing for the show, along with Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Jed and Maurissa are both married, and Jed is Joss’ brother. To go even deeper, Maurissa is Kevin Tancharoen’s sister, the director behind Mortal Kombat Rebirth and Mortal Kombat Legacy web series (which season 2 will air in 2013).
