Sega and Level|Up are teaming up to bring you the SEGA Cup: Virtua Fighter Tournament 2013

Are you a fan of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown? Do you consider yourself a good player?

If the answer to both questions are yes, Southern California’s Super Arcade is the place to be April 20th, as both Sega and Level|Up announced today it will be holding a special VIRTUA FIGHTER 5 FINAL SHOWDOWN TOURNAMENT with cash prizes to the top 16 players.

Level|Up is well known for its contribution to the fight game scene hosting tournaments on Wednesday with Wednesday Night Fights (featuring Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition]), Thursday with the Runback (featuring Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and King of Fighters XIII), and other tournaments. The Virtua Fighter 5 tournament will have hardcore fans take on challengers from not just the US, but from other countries too.

Annual Tournament in Partnership with Level|Up

SAN FRANCISCO– December 19, 2012 – SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced the SEGA Cup: Virtua Fighter Tournament 2013. The tournament, in partnership with Level|Up, will take place in Los Angeles at the Super Arcade on April 20, 2013. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 16 players. The version for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system will be used for the competition.

Based on the latest arcade version of the celebrated Virtua Fighter series, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown launched in June 2012 for PlayStation®Network (PSN) and for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft (XBLA). It was a critical and commercial success and maintained the Virtua Fighter series’ reputation of being the “fighting game fan’s fighter.”

The SEGA Cup: Virtua Fighter Tournament will be an annual competition and will be open to all Virtua Fighter fans. To assist fans in training for the event, SEGA will launch the official Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Guide on the App Store™ today for $0.99.
