The Hollywood DGA held an Avengers screening and Q&A where director Joss Whedon revealed his original ideas for the superhero team movie. One of the big revelations for me was that he didn’t want Loki to be the sole villain to take on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. His role would have been shared with a second villain, but Marvel believed that Loki could carry the movie as a villain. Joss Whedon was convinced when Tom Hiddleston’s performance as Loki proved otherwise.
He originally had a major role for Wasp, leaving Black Widow in the dust. He said that it was a “very Wasp-y draft.”
It seemed like people were upset that Joss Whedon killed off Agent Coulson. He revealed that it was Marvel’s Kevin Feige’s idea to send that character away. Even actor Clark Gregg pressed on that his character should die.
He added with, “She’s adorable! I’m just going to write her!”
Whedon said that his favorite scene was the one involving Loki and Black Widow.
