Expendables 2 had all of our favorite action stars from the ’80s and ’90s. We’ve got Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and of course, Sylvester Stallone. As a fan of Hong Kong martial arts, I was disappointed with Jet Li’s small role in the second one. At least he was able to get a cool fight scene before he was off. Looks like there’s good news for Hong Kong martial arts fans, since Jackie Chan confirms that he will be in Expendables 3, according to Yahoo! Singapore.
Jackie Chan was originally invited by Sylvester Stallone to be in Expendables 2, but due to his commitment to other film projects, he wasn’t able to be a part of the movie. He confirmed that he’ll be in Expendables 3 at a press conference while promoting CZ12 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“Sly had invited me to be in Expendables 2 but I was too busy filming CZ12 and couldn’t make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes,” said Chan.
You hear that? Here’s hoping he gets a bigger role than what Jet Li received on all of Expendables 1 & 2 combined. I must confess that I always did enjoy Jackie Chan’s films more. His blend of martial arts, action and comedy is what sets him apart from other Hong Kong action stars.
Speaking of CZ12, check out the trailer below. It is currently playing in Chinese theaters.
