Ubisoft partners again with New Regency for Splinter Cell movie

I really can’t wait until Ubisoft starts principal photography on its film projects based on Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell. To produce these films, Ubisoft decided its best to create its own studio, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, in order to have creative rights and to respect the source material. It definitely reminds me of Marvel forming Marvel Studios to create hits like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and The Avengers.

Ubisoft announced recently that Tom Hardy is going to play Sam Fisher in the Splinter Cell film. Today Ubisoft has announced that it will be teaming up with New Regency again, under a different deal separate from the Assassin’s Creed one. Ubisoft will lead the project and New Regency will help support.¬†Eric Warren Singer (The International) is attached to pen the script for the film.

I’m still not entirely sold on Tom Hardy as Sam Fisher, since I’m not convinced he can pull off a voice similar to Michael Ironside’s Sam Fisher. Prove me wrong, Hardy, prove me wrong.

If Ubisoft can get this out quickly, I’m going to feel sorry for the other studios still sitting on their asses with the Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted and Mortal Kombat.
