Our worst fears have come to play. In a statement from Warner Bros., Zack Snyder’s upcoming Man of Steel will now be in 3D…great. I would be okay with it if the movie was shot in 3D, but the fact that it’s going to be post-production 3D layering, that sucks. I have yet to see a film that looked great with a post 3D layering. If you can think of one, let me know.
Here is what Snyder had to say:
The film is going to be a visually exciting experience in all formats: 2D, 3D and IMAX. Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow ‘Man of Steel’ to captivate those movie goers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience. We’ve taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement.
Visually exciting with post 3D? More like visually suck. I’m not too sure why they decided to hop the 3D bandwagon on this. And what does Christopher Nolan have to say about this? I’m sure he’s not pleased. Earlier this year, Warner Bros. also got Guillermo del Toro to convert Pacific Rim to 3D. WHY!? Are they throwing money at them?
