Team Nerd Reactor in Atlanta had the privilege of checking out one of the top haunted houses in America for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look.

Netherworld Haunted House is rated one of the top Haunted Houses in America and voted as one of the best by the Travel Channel as well as HauntWorld.com. Netherworld haunted house contains two different themed haunts that change every year, filled with terrifying live actors, amazing special effects, and incredible monsters. This year’s theme was “The Banshee” and “The Hive”

“Banshee” takes a page out of Celtic mythology and is filled with monsters and spirits of Irish legends. And of course some of the main staples from past years. Voodoo priest roam the dark gator filled swamps and demons dwell in the large caves. As the main haunt it takes a whopping 30 minutes to walk the entire spectacle! It’s not just the monsters on the ground you have to fear, but the one’s flying above crawling on the walls and the one’s nipping at your feet. Not convinced? How about a giant hell mouth that gobbles you whole! Monsters are everywhere!

“The Hive” is the second haunt that is sure to make you squirm. A mad doctor has taken upon himself to make a ghoulish lab filled with 6ft bugs and human/insect hybrids. Known as the goriest of the two haunts, it will definitely make the strongest of stomachs turn. Bloody walls and body parts cover the haunt plus giant insect animatronics that flip the page on you. You might be the one getting stomped in “The Hive”! Oh yeah…there are LIVE bugs everywhere!

It takes a dedicated team of professional monster makers, make up artists, puppeteers, actors, and a well equipped operations team to make Netherworld’s gears turn every night! The make-up team alone houses up to 12 professionals to get a little over 100 actors ready to get their scare on. Led by none other than legendary make up artist Roy Wooley (Face-Off). The monster are sure to look their best to make any non-believer think a 7 foot Krampas beast is about to gnaw your face-off, pun intended. Owners Ben and Billy have something special on their hands. This is not just a haunted house anymore, but an attraction for the masses to gather around, hold on to each other tightly, and get scared out of their minds.
