One of the things I really liked about the Amazing Spider-Man film is the introduction of Gwen Stacy before Mary Jane Watson, since she was Peter Parker’s first love. In Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, Gwen Stacy was a character that was introduced just to create tension between Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson. It looks like things are going to be switched around in the Amazing Spider-Man 2, with Peter (Andrew Garfield) and Gwen (Emma Stone) having tension with the introduction of Mary Jane.

According to Variety, Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) is the top contender for the role of Mary Jane Watson and is currently in negotiations. I’m not sure what I think about this, since she looks too young and doesn’t look like the sexy, hot model type. Well, at least she looks like the girl next door type.

As for who’s going to be the next villain to ruin Spider-Man’s day? Rumor has it that Electro is being considered. Whoever the villain is, I hope they don’t use any of the villains in the other Spidey movies.

Another shoe to fill is the role of Harry Osborn, Peter Parker’s best friend-turned-rival. He was played by James Franco in the Raimi-directed films and was one of my favorite characters in the trilogy.
