Archeologists of Shadows Volume 1 graphic novel review
Posted 8:25 pm on Wednesday, October 10th, 2012 by Narvin SeegoolamI’ve never been a fan of digital comics. Sure, I’ve read many of them, but I still enjoy having something tangible instead of digital. Sometimes something comes along that changes your mind and Archeologists of Shadows does just that. Septagon Studios have put together a great masterpiece that I hope is around for a while. The book and story is unique in itself and the artwork is just gorgeous to say the least. I can’t think of anything that compares to it.
The story is worthy of an sci-fi or comic fan. It is set in a world where any and everything organic is being converted to a mechanized form because it is the will of the Gods. Anyone or thing that resists, are hunted down ruthlessly. The two main characters, Baltimo and Alix resist the change and are led on an adventure with the help of an underground resistance. They even have a run in with the Gods themselves. Some of the undertones in the story are religious and political and that adds a deeper nature to it.
The artwork is utterly amazing. It has a Blade Runner/Star Wars feel to it. The characters and world are of a Steampunk-esque setting. Hell, I’ve read through this comic quite a few times just to experience the art over and over again. This is definitely one comic I would love to see in print form.
If you’re looking for an enthralling story that pulls you in as well as visuals that brings a tear to your eye, then Archeologists of Shadows is definitely for you.
Archeologists Of Shadows is a unique and innovative graphic novel project that has been in development for over five years now with a team that’s spread across three countries. With a writer and artist based out of Spain, an editor from Austin, Texas, and a publisher based out of Toronto, Canada, this is by far the most original, artistic and epic project we’ve ever undertaken.
