PS3 & Vita bundle not a bad idea
Posted 8:42 am on Tuesday, October 9th, 2012 by James MartinezIn an interview with CVG, Fergal Gara, managing director of PlayStation UK said, “There’s no reason why we shouldn’t create a ‘Vita plus PS3′ bundle.” I for one would love the idea, even if I already have a PS3 and I don’t live in the UK. Gara was asked if retail stores would see this type of bundle for the holiday season.
While Sony has no immediate plans to do this, retailers should be encouraged to do so. Not only would this be a great selling point, but they could also promote games that feature cross-play, and promote PlayStation Plus; now that it works on both PS3 and Vita.
Gara also gets hit with several other questions regarding dual screen gaming, and the PlayStation 3 life cycle. With dual screen gaming, something that Nintendo hopes catches on as well as its Nintendo Wii motion controllers did, Gara was asked if he felt Sony had the capacity to instantly compete in that market. Gara’s response was simple, “We do, and there’s a lot of flexibility for that.” However, when asked if the PlayStation 3 would fade out with new gen consoles, Gara replied, “We’re nowhere close to giving up on PS3,” and added, “if you look at PS3, it’s holding up a lot better than others.”
When the PlayStation 3 game out in 2006, Sony said they wanted to have a 10-year life cycle. Now it’s 2012, almost 2013, and Sony seems confident they have more to entice gamers.
