Damon Lindelof confirms in Prometheus commentary Blade Runner influencesPosted 10:09 am on Monday, October 8th, 2012 by John 'Spartan' Nguyen
Reports all over the blog universe geeked over the fact that there were Blade Runner references in the Prometheus Blu-ray/DVD. A reddit user by the name of Huxleyism has posted the image above that hints at clues about Blade Runner-influences in Prometheus. I’ve received the advanced Blu-ray copy of Prometheus and recognize the layout of the extras in the Weyland Files category.
Another user has posted a screenshot from the Merging Ridleyverses feature with Ridley Scott saying:
“You know, I’m thinking what if it’s the Weyland-Tyrell Corporation? Is that cool?”
I had a chance to listen to the whole commentary from Damon Lindelof, co-writer for Prometheus. In the commentary, Lindelof lets viewers know that he’s a big fan of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner and Alien films. He watched them when he was younger and didn’t know what a director is, so he just assumed that both films were in the same universe, since they felt the same. He goes on to say that he would try to incorporate themes from Blade Runner in Prometheus every chance he gets, especially with scenes involving the android, David (Michael Fassbender).
