America’s favorite serial killer is back! Dexter is one of those shows that has me glued to my TV every episode of every season in its run so far. Season 7′s season premiere doesn’t disappoint either. At the end of last season, we see Dexter delivering the final blow to a wrapped up Travis Marshall in the church. To Dexter’s surprise, Debra happens to wander in at the exact same moment. This is where Season 7 kicks off.

Dexter has to think quick on his feet to explain why he has Travis strapped to a table with a knife in his chest. After a little while, he convinces Debra that Travis attacked him while he was reviewing the crime scene and that he didn’t know what came over him. Next, a scene interrupts with Dexter appearing to be on the run from the police in his truck. He stops shortly to try to refuel, as he’s running on empty, but can’t because all of his cards are declining. He then pulls a wad of cash from a bag in his trunk and continues on to Miami International Airport. He proceeds to buy a plane ticket to Budapest with a fake passport, and then the scene goes back to the church.

Debra buys the alibi and agrees to help Dexter and his impromptu plan of torching the place and making Travis’ death look like a suicide. Through the night, Debra is really distraught at what she saw her brother do. The next day, all of Miami PD is at the crime scene trying to decipher what transpired. Debra somehow holds it together and plays along like she knows nothing. As everyone is leaving, LaGuerta sees something shining through one of the drainage grates…a broken blood slide. Apparently, while Dexter was in a hurry trying to clean up the mess the night before, the blood slide with Travis’ blood fell into the grate without Dexter knowing. LaGuerta then grabs the slide and gives it to another CSI to analyze.

Dexter comes home to find Louis Green in his apartment. Louis tries to explain that he was simply there waiting for Jamie (Batista’s sister and Dexter’s nanny). Dexter gets pissed at him for Louis using his laptop, to which Louis claims he was just checking basketball scores. After the couple leave, Dexter realizes that he’s missing the blood slide. Meanwhile, Detective Mike Anderson on his way home from the crime scene, stops off to assist someone who appears to be broken down on the side of the road. As he offers a helping hand to the Ukrainian  he stumbles upon a dead body in the trunk. The man then shoots Anderson twice and takes off in his cop car. But not before wiping fingerprints from everything on both cars.

Both Anderson and the body are found the next day. Debra meets Dexter at his apartment in the morning to question inconsistencies in his story from the night of Travis’ murder (the plastic wrap, apron, long gloves, etc.), but are then interrupted with the news of Anderson. Dexter, Debra and crew are then on hand to scour the scene of their comrade’s shooting. Everyone confirms that there are no fingerprints anywhere, but Dexter is able to secure a print from the turn signal lever.

Dexter is able to identify the Ukrainian through Interpol and gets some info on the killer. The girl is identified as a stripper from a local strip club, to which Batista, Quinn and some uniformed officers go to check out. While they are questioning both strippers and patrons, the club owner calls a guy in Ukraine to let him know that the killer was heading back. Dexter infiltrates the killer’s apartment and finds out that he’s heading to the airport to bail out of the U.S.

Dexter then heads back to his own home to retrieve an emergency getaway bag hidden in the wall in hopes of pursuing the Ukrainian. Meanwhile, Louis is seen with some credit card numbers and entering information onto his laptop. Apparently he was able to retrieve all of Dexter’s credit card numbers and was cancelling them one at a time. Cut back to Dexter who is on his way to the airport in the same scene we saw earlier, except this time we know he’s not running from anyone.

As all this is going on, Debra is still trying to piece everything together with Dexter and then starts having flashbacks to the Ice Truck Killer aka Dexter’s brother. She starts doing some digging of her own through the evidence from that case, as well as finding out from Jamie that Dexter has been “working late” quite a bit. She then starts to put the pieces together. Back at the airport, Dexter catches the Ukrainian before he could board his flight. He then takes him to a room where the lost baggage is kept. Dexter proceeds to killing the Ukrainian in an uncommon fashion, bludgeoning him to death with a fire extinguisher.

After disposing of the body off the side of his boat, Dexter heads home. Feeling good about himself, he walks through the door to find his apartment trashed. Sitting in the center of it all is Debra. Scattered all around her are all of his killing supplies, the roll of knives and even the blood slides. “Did you kill all of these people?” she asks. Dexter replies with a cold “Yes.” Debra then asks, “Are you a serial killer?” To which Dexter closes his eyes, sighs and replies, “Yes.”
