Kojima wants a fresh face for Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid moviePosted 12:34 pm on Friday, September 28th, 2012 by John 'Spartan' Nguyen
Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, originally wanted Hugh Jackman to play the pivotal role of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid movie. He has since changed his mind and wants an unknown to play the protagonist. He is trusting in Avi Arad, Metal Gear Solid movie producer, in choosing the right person.
Here’s what he had to say about the project at the Eurogamer Expo in London:
If I talk to much about this Avi might get mad at me, but after thinking about it more, it’s probably better to go for someone new, a rising star, someone who hasn’t been typecast before as a particular kind of character, so that’s the route we’re going right now. Avi is very good at finding these people, and I think we can find someone who can make it big and have Solid Snake be their break into the movie industry.
Fuck that shit. Let Avi be mad at you. You’re the creator of Metal Gear Solid! You do whatever the hell you want.
Hideo Kojima is acting as the supervisory role for the film. If only Kojima had more of a role like Ubisoft and the Assassin’s Creed film.
Other than that, yes, a fresh face is not a bad thing. Look at what it did to Hugh Jackman’s career when he first starred as Wolverine in the first X-Men movie.
