Sega announces HD ports of Sonic Adventure 2 and NiGHTS for PS3, Xbox 360, PC (?)

To keep the digital sales ball rolling, while Sega just re-released Jet Set Radio, they’re now announcing that Sonic Adventure 2 and the much beloved NiGHTS will be on your HD systems this Fall. Since Sonic Adventure 2 had already seen a release outside of its original Dreamcast home, NiGHTS is definitely the one that many may be looking out for seeing as how it was only released on the Sega Saturn. I am not sure whether I should be looking forward to these releases, or fearing them. After my Jet Set Radio review, I kind of don’t want to shatter anymore worlds. Here’s hoping these two games hold up better. Here’s also hoping that Panzer Dragoon Orta gets an HD port sometime soon.

Both games will be available on October 2nd for $9.99/£6.49/€7.99 on PSN, and available on October 5th on Xbox Live for 800 MS Points.

There was no mention of a PC version for either game, but after looking at the product pages, it appears that the PC will receive NiGHTS but not Sonic Adventure 2. We’ll ask Sega for comment and update if we hear anything.

Sonic Adventure 2 will have an additional Battle Mode as DLC for $3.00/240 MS Points. The DLC has more maps and characters, including Chao Karate.

As for NiGHTS, fans will be excited to know that the very limited 1996 holiday-themed expansion will be included with the HD re-release.
